Pittsburgh Steelers & Cafe Momentum | My Cause My Cleats

Miles Killebrew | Pittsburgh Steelers & Cafe Momentum | My Cause My Cleats

I recorded the production sound for Freethink who was producing a video for Stand Together and the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats campaign to tell the story of Cafe Momentum Pittsburgh, a youth development program & restaurant brought to the city by Steelers safety Miles Killebrew. The piece features two components: verite of Steelers players making pizza in the kitchen alongside program interns, and sit-down interviews, some of which took place simultaneously.

Simultaneous Interviews & Verite with Professional Athletes

Having a limited window of availability with the Steelers players meant we logistically needed to film interviews and verite at the same time. That meant matching wireless, boom mics, and timecode across two separate audio packages, with sync and feeds running to four cameras: three on the interview set receiving hardline mixes from the cart package, and one fed from the bag rig for verite. My buddy Chris Bell came on as an additional mixer for the second day of filming and handled the verite coverage while I ran the interview station.
